Aubree is 24 weeks

Surprisingly, we did not have a crazy week...  It was a nice change.

Aubree is 24 weeks old and getting so much bigger.  I can't help but remember when she could fit across my body when she ate.  Now she has to sit on my leg and her feet touch the couch or bed.  She loves jumping in her jumper and is working on sitting by herself.  Dan calls it her gorilla sit because she sits with her hands in front of her.  She also loves playing with her feet.  I can't believe how independent she is getting.  Don't get me wrong, she still loves to be held All. The. Time.  But she can do so much now.

I just commented that I can't wait until she can sit up and it two days later she was sitting.  In a few more days she could sit with no support for a few seconds.  I look forward to her developing and then the next day she can do something new.  I can't believe how fast she is learning.  She isn't my tiny baby anymore.

She LOVES talking and yelling.  I am also loving that her babbles are mostly m's and o's leading to lots of "mooooom, mom, maaa's" I know she doesn't know what it means but it makes my heart melt.

I am so excited for October!  Halloween, more specifically.  We broke out the Halloween jammies this weekend.  After organizing Aubree's closet I realized that she has 17 Halloween outfits.  (and I am seriously considering Dan's concerns that I have a shopping and baby clothes addiction... It could be worse, I guess.)

Aubree is such a happy baby. I know how lucky we are and how amazing she is.  I am so in love with this little girl and I can't wait to wake up each and every day to see her smiling face.  Although, sometimes it is a fussy face because she has decided to quit napping.  We are lucky to get an hour or so each day.

When she does nap, we let her sleep.  Even if it is in that middle of the floor.

Dan had this Saturday off from work.  He surprised me by taking Aubree downstairs so I could sleep in.  Then he surprised me by picking up some of my favorites while I showered.  I could get used to having him home on the weekend :)

We went to church again this week.  I can't believe how good she is during the service.  (I hope I didn't just jinx myself for next week.)  She likes to watch the band and listen to the music and then she falls asleep in my arms for the service.  She usually wakes up just in time for the band to play again but seems content just listening to the music.

I am so excited for our new tradition that I hope we can continue for many years.  We go to (or make) breakfast after church.  I think Aubree was so hungry that she was wiling to eat a straw wrapper.  What a goof.

We also started to bet each week on all of the football games.  At breakfast we choose a winner of each game.  It makes watching football all day a little more interesting.  Dan won the first week.  He picked 4 more winning games than I did.  I will get him next week though.  I can't wait until Aubree can pick her own teams!  She is not very interested in football yet.  she fell asleep chewing on her dress.

And finally, here is Amp hiding behind Aubrees glider while we were trying to take her weekly picture.

Aubree is 23 weeks

What a crazy week!

Aubree is moving around so much!  I don't know if she will ever crawl because she hates being on her tummy.  She likes moving around on her back though.  We can put her on her play mat and 2 minutes later she is in the middle of the room.  Silly girl.  She even ended up under the coffee table the other night.

We took a break from solids this week because Aubree threw up for the first time.  (Not spit up... but actual green goo all over the swing, floor, Aubree, and Mommy.)  A small piece of me worried that it was a food allergy but she also has some cold symptoms so we took a break, just to be safe.  I am still leaning towards it just being a cold but we will keep you updated.  She has had a slight temperature, a cough, and a runny and stuffy nose off and on.

The pediatrician suggested that we try giving her warm juice to help with her cough and that it would help if she felt sick.  I gave her some apple juice in a sippy cup.  She seemed to like holding the cup but didn't drink any of it.  I am hoping that she will start to drink out of the sippy because she still refuses a bottle.  We tries 2 different sippys and have a third to try.  I think she will take one of them.

She also likes to practice holding Coke bottles.  Of course she doesn't drink any, but when Daddy works for Coke, she will be a soda drinker before we know it.

Another sad event this week... Our dog, Jenkins looked like he had a seizure.  The left side of his face was numb and droopy.  Of course we were scared to death and rushed him to the vet.  It turns out he has the doggy version of Bell's Palsy.  His 7th cranial nerve was effected but not the 6th or 8th so we are fairly sure he did not have a seizure but we don't know what caused it.  The vet was hopeful that he should be back to normal in 8 weeks.  We have to put ointment in his eye 4-5 times per day so it won't dry our and we have to blink his eye for him.  And of course he has a lot more drool so we wipe his mouth a bit more.  We are so so so thankful that it wasn't anything more serious.  It really made me realize how lucky we are to have such an amazing family, dogs included. It makes me realize how much I have been taking them for granted and how much I love these dogs and my family.  I am so glad that he is going to be alright.  He has been enjoying it though because he has slept on the bed every night and got many new rawhides.

On a happier note, we bought Aubree's first pumpkin this week!  She loves it.  She wanted to touch it play with it all day.  I can't wait to bake the pumpkin seeds and carve it as a family this weekend.

We went to the Highlands Ranch Oktoberfest this weekend.  I can't wait to do it every year.  Aubree will have so much fun when she is big enough to do the events.  I wish we were better at taking pictures as a family during the events but we will get better at it.  Aubree also falls asleep in her stroller so it is hard to take cute pictures of her at the things that we do.  I have so many pictures of her sleeping in her carseat.

Aubree also got to watch Dad and Grandpa cut down a tree in our yard this week!  Although they were scared at first I think the dogs liked getting to chew on the HUGE sticks before we threw them away.

On Sunday, we went to church for the first time as a family.  Aubree slept through most of it and then woke up with hiccups.  It is a good thing people thought in was cute and not annoying.  Then we went out to breakfast.  I can't wait to do it every weekend.  I am not sure Dan will let us go to Ihop anymore though... it is next to Carter's and I have a slight major baby clothes addiction.  Aubree did get some cute new outfits though!

Then we drove to Pueblo to visit friends and go to the Chile Festival.  We bought a bushel of chiles and we are STILL cleaning them.  I can't wait to try some new green chile recipes and make some chile rellanos with fresh chiles!  We forgot to put Aubree's stroller in our friends' car though, so we had to carry her the whole time.  She feel asleep on Dan and I think he liked that.  We had some delicious fried food and had a great time.  It was so cool to see Dan's old house and drive around to all of the places that we used to go together.  It was great to reminice about when we dated and talk to Aubree about the things we used to do.  We even got to take her to some of our favorite date spots.  We will probably do it again when she can remember it, but it was a ton of fun for us.

Aubree is 22 weeks

This week we celebrated Grandpa Jim's birthday and Daddy's 28th birthday!  It was a full birthday week!  We went to dinner to celebrate on Saturday.  Aubree loves spending time with family and I love catching up with everyone.  I think she likes candy.  Don't worry, she doesn't really eat chocolate yet... she just gets to play with it.

The 3 of us went to Cafe Rio to celebrate Daddy's birthday for lunch.  Aubree sat in the high chair and actually sat in it.  She is still a little too little but she is getting so much stronger.

Aubree got a new ball from her friend, Ryan this week.  She LOVES it.  I think it is her new favorite toy.  The only thing that would make it better is if she could figure out how to put it in her mouth.

She still does not like squash... or oatmeal cereal.  She is a very picky little baby.  We did try peas a few times though.  She seems to like tolerates them.  She definitely prefers rice cereal with breast milk.

Aubree does not like to nap!  She loves to be awake and loves to play and be held.  When she does fall asleep, I have to take advantage and get some work done...  Even if that means working in bed because that is where she fell asleep.

Aubree seems to like playing with my wallet too...  I think she likes shopping just like Mommy.

Just lounging in the crib...

Aubree has definitely found her feet!  They are the cheapest toy we have.  She hasn't really put them in her mouth yet so we can keep our matching pedicures for now.

Sometimes she plays so hard she falls asleep while she plays.

And finally... A is having much more fun taking her weekly pictures now that she is grabbing at things and playing.

I can only imagine her saying, "Come here, Bear.  You are too far away!"

5 Months!

Age: 5 months
Height:
Weight:
Clothes: 3-6 month jams exclusively, but still in a couple 0-3 months dresses.  3-6 month onsies are a little too long.
Diaper Size: Still in a size 1 but we will switch very soon.
Things she loves: playing with toys, rice cereal, watching the dogs, pulling Mommy's hair
Things she hates: still hates sleeping and waking up more than anything.  She also hates being alone (like in the carseat and swing).  Baths... maybe strongly dislike is a better description.
Milestones:  Mostly rolling over.  She is sitting up with less support and will be sitting up very soon!
Sleeping: Mostly good nights.  She has been sleeping about 6 hours before she wakes up to eat.
Eating: She loves eating! We started solids!  She loves rice cereal if it is mixed with breastmilk.  She does NOT like rice cereal mixed with formula.  She also hates squash.

Aubree is 21 weeks

Seriously, 21 weeks!  Where did my baby go?  She is growing so much!

I can not even begin to describe how much I love waking up to this face every day.   Well, it is more waking up to her cry... but I get to roll over and see her smiling face once she realizes she woke me up and she is going to get a new diaper and milk.  What a life.

I love getting to hang out with this girl before work every morning.  We are so blessed to get to spend time playing or relaxing before I have to get ready.

We had another run at food this week.  I thought we could start some squash.  Aubree thought differently.  Apparently she is taking after both Mommy and Daddy and is going to be quite picky.  Needless to say, she did NOT like the squash.

After a gag and a cry, we went back to the rice cereal... which she LOVES!

How can you not love this "too cool to smile", peace sign making baby.

Aubree also decided that she loves to play with pull Mommy's hair.  Mommy does not love this so much but she does it all the time.  I have learned to keep a brush in every room in the house as well as the diaper bag and car.  What a mess she makes.

She is also not a huge fan of headbands... She decided they were more fun to chew on than to wear.

Aubree has two teeth and loves her teethers, but instead of playing with her $30 Sophie, she chews her fingers instead.  Silly girl...  Eventually she gave in and chewed on Sophie.  We are going to have issues pretty soon though because Sophie and a few other toys sound surprizingly similar to the dog toys.  The dogs have a hard time knowing which are theirs and which are Aubree's toys.

And finally, and most excitingly, Aubree (and Mommy and Daddy) finished our first 5K this weekend!  We got to race with the Coke team for Dan's job so of course we got decked out in Coca-Cola red and white!  I am still sore 2 days later...  Maybe the next time I will do some training.  Aubree had a great time though.  She got to sleep in her stroller for most of it and then wake up to cross the finish line.  It was to benefit Juvenile Diabetes so there were tons of booths and things for kids to do.    Aubree got to take pictures with Star Wars characters and even got to ride a tortoise!
